I don’t know if you have ever felt like you are in a dry season in your life like there is a lack of joy and life and enjoyment of the things you are blessed with.

I think we all go through times like that when it feels like there is not much passion behind the things we do and it can be discouraging.

Sometimes I think we look for life in places where we can’t find it. Maybe we think that if we buy a certain thing or achieve a certain goal we will feel like life matters again.

A Way To Experience True Life

But what I can see looking back is that the moments where I have felt most alive are the moments spent with my creator.

Out of the moments spent with our heavenly Father letting him show us who he is and letting his Spirit lead us in everyday life, there is a life to the full that we can experience that we will find nowhere else.

That life can’t be bought with money. But it was paid for with a very high price when Jesus died for us on the cross.

Jesus tells us in John chapter 10 that:

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
John 10:10

The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus came so that we can have life, and have it to the full.

That kind of life, a life to the full, is the kind of life that this blog post is about.

15 Bible Verses About Life

The gospel of John tells us that Jesus brings life. Through Jesus, we can have life. Life that can’t be found in this world.

Jesus talks about himself as the bread of life. The life he gives us is eternal.

“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.””
John 6:35

Jesus says that whoever believes in him, never will go hungry, and whoever believes in him will never be thirsty. The life we get through him brings satisfaction because it brings us closer to our creator. We were created to be in a close relationship with God and through believing in Jesus that is possible.

Jesus died for our sins, we now get to live holy through his forgiveness and can be close to our heavenly Father who is holy.

Jesus Is The Way, The Truth, And The Life

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.””
John 14:6

Jesus is the way and the truth and the LIFE. There is no way to the Father except through him.

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””
John 8:12

Jesus also talks about how he is the light of the world. Whoever follows Jesus will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

When we follow Jesus, we get to have the light of life.

What Does It Mean To Follow Jesus?

What does it mean then to follow Jesus? We can read in the Bible how Jesus called his disciples, how they dropped their nets and chose to leave everything behind and follow Jesus.

The word follow means to move behind someone or something and go where he, she, or it goes(Cambridge Dictionary).

When we follow someone, we go where the person we follow goes. We fully allow the person leading to show us where to go.

When we follow Jesus, he gets to show us how to live, how to speak, and how to think about things. It is a true transformation because we know that the life he gives is not of this world.

Whoever Has The Son Has Life – Bible Verses About Life Through Jesus

“Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
1 John 5:12

When we follow Jesus, we have life!

“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
Romans 8:11

The Holy Spirit lives in us and God who raised Christ from the dead gives life to us!

In Christ All Will Be Made Alive

“For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”
1 Corinthians 15:22

Through Christ we are made alive.

“The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”
Romans 8:6

The mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”
Matthew 16:25

If we choose to value following Jesus higher than things of this earth, we will find and experience true life.

“Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”
Matthew 10:39

This is also said in Matthew chapter 10.

Jesus Gives Us Life To The Full

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20

The word of God is very clear about the fact that we get to wholeheartedly live our lives in a close relationship with Jesus. Through the Holy Spirit, we get to live, talk, and do things that bring life to us and the people around us.

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.”
1 John 4:9

I guess you see the pattern. Scripture just keeps repeating the same thing. God the Father sent his son into the world that we might live through him. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

When the word of God repeats itself, we get to give that some extra attention. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves over and over again what the scriptures say about certain things. How Jesus gives us life to the full is one eternal truth that we get to live out every day.

“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
Galatians 5:25

Let’s keep God’s word in the forefront of our minds. Let’s choose to read it in the start of our days and meditate on it throughout our days.

You Will Shine Like Stars In The Sky

“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.”
Philippians 2:14-16

When we choose to live in a way that reflects who Jesus is we shine like stars in the sky. The ways of Jesus are not like the ways of this world.

In His Presence, We Know The Path Of Life

“You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
Psalm 16:11

When we spend time in the presence of God we get to know the path of life. The teachings of Jesus truly transform us. Getting to know Jesus, reading about who he is in his word, and letting it transform the way we view ourselves and the people around us will make us live a life of truth and life to the full.

Life with Jesus is such an adventure. The word of God has truly transformed my life, the way I view myself, and the way I view this world.

I know that when we spend time reading the Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus to us, it starts to transform us deeply.

What is the meaning of life? What is the purpose for my own life? What should I do with my life? Do I have a special task that God has given me?

Here we have some of the biggest questions of our lives, questions I believe most of us have thought about, if not all of us.

I think the reason we think about these things is that yes, we are created to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Our lives are meant to be connected to a bigger purpose – the great story of God.

I have thought about this many times and what has helped me is to not just try to figure it out in my own head. I think even just looking at what we are good at naturally is not enough, but we need to go to the source of it all. To creation, to what made all of what we see today start moving many, many years ago.

We can’t find out who we are unless we first get to know God.

I believe we can split up the idea of calling in different categories; our general purpose in life or who we are and our more specific purpose that is more connected to what we do, more generally and individually.

Created For a Purpose – Part 1 – Our General Calling

This is a big topic so this blogpost will be divided in two parts, today we will look at our more
general calling and the principle of using what God has given us and in the next one we will
take a look at some examples of more specific callings we can have.

1. To have a relationship with God

The whole story in the Bible points to this – God wants to have a relationship with us. We
were created in the image of a trinitarian God, the one that defines love and defines
relationship.

“Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over
the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and
the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

Genesis 1:26

Here we see the words our and us. God was not alone, He was already a relationship;
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are invited to be part of that perfect fellowship with Him.
I believe that our highest calling is to reconnect with our creator. To get to know God.

We are created to live in a close relationship with Him and receive our identity from Him – to be sons and daughters of the heavenly Father. We simply cannot skip this step and think that we can
discover who we are in some other way. We need to go back to the source.

2. To steward what God has given us.

When we have this step clear we can move on to thinking about what we are meant to do
with our lives and already here in the first chapter of the Bible we get some direction “They
will reign over….”.

Already from the beginning Adam and Eve were working in the garden, they were not just
spectators but they were co-creating with God. We were never meant to just sit and watch
world history go by, but the purpose was always to take care of and steward well what God
has given us.

This can be many different things since maybe not so many of us actually live in a garden. It
can be taking care of the family God has given us, using the gifts we have or the resources
we have. A good example of this we find in the story of the talents that we can find in the
book of Matthew in chapter 25.

Matthew Chapter 25

I encourage you to go and read the story for yourself, but for the sake of space I will
summarize it. The story starts with a man that is about to go on a journey and he calls his
servants to him before he leaves. To one servant he gives one talent, to one two talents and
to the third one he gives five talents, after that he leaves.

When he comes back from his journey he meets his servants to check what happened with
the talents he gave them. Two of them have doubled the talents, the one that had two now
has four and the one that had five now has ten. The one that had one, had not done anything with
what was given to him and had only kept it hidden during this time which upset the master
greatly.

I think this story really encourages us to use the gifts God has given us well, to not just put
them on a shelf or dig them down.

Gifted For A Purpose

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is
prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; f it is serving, then serve; if it is
teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give
generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”

Romans 12: 6-8

The Bible clearly encourages us to use what He has given us. If you are unsure about your
gifts I really encourage you to go back to the first point we discussed – our personal
relationship with Him. Ask Him and ask the people around you what they see in you.

Always remember – you are created to live in a deep connection with your creator and He
has given you gifts and talents that you can use for His glory! We are meant to live big lives,
lives that are connected to God’s big plan for the world – for people to know Him and live in
fellowship with Him!

Prayer:
God, thank you for creating me! I also want to thank You for the specific way You created
me, for the gifts and talents You have given me. Help me to live close to You and to use what
You have given me to bring You glory and joy. Help me also to show others the way to get to
know You, better or for the very first time. I want to live for You and I want to believe You
have good plans for my life!

Psalm 139:13-14

When I was young these verses in Psalm 139 really stood out to me. I think it is so cool to remember that every person was created in a wonderful way with so much intention. Already in the womb, God formed you.

God’s creativity is endless. He could have decided to create anything and he chose to create you. You are so valuable to him.

We can read in the beginning of the Bible that God created the whole universe. There is so much beauty in everything that God has made.

When we are out hiking and stand beside huge mountains and tall trees it is easy to remember that God is so big.

When we look closer at everything created, we can see that everything that God has made is so detailed. God creates in such an amazing way. Everything that he creates is so intentional and full of purpose.

Just as everything in nature is so beautifully made, you were created in such a fearful way. You were created with a purpose and with many plans in mind.

I think it’s so cool how confidently David thanks God for how he was made so fearfully and wonderfully. He proclaims that God’s works are wonderful. He knew that so well.

I hope you also know full well that God created you fearfully and wonderfully.

I also pray that the young ones that grow up, will know that they are fearfully and wonderfully made with purpose.

In Finland, where I come from, the tradition of baby showers is still not very common. In Colombia though, where my husband comes from it’s a lot more common.

I have learned to really like this tradition. Baby showers are a great and very sweet way to celebrate the new life that is about to be born.

Sharing a Bible verse with the mom-to-be is a great way to bless and encourage her.

Sometimes we pray and when the Lord answers we don’t even give the glory to him but Hannah remembered. Hannah gave all the glory to the Lord.

Baby Shower Bible Verses to Encourage the Mom-to-be

Stepping into the new phase of life as a parent can be challenging. A Bible verse can be a great encouragement for a mom-to-be.

“Praise the Lord.
Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
    who find great delight in his commands.

Remembering that we can bring all things to God is important when we face new situations and circumstances in life.

I am usually not a anxious person. Becoming a parent though, has really made me worry at times. I have had to put my trust in the Lord in ways I did not have to do before.

Motherhood is a sweet sweet time that can be ooh so challenging. I am grateful every day for the blessing it is to be a mom, at the same time it stretches me in ways I didn’t expect.

Bringing it all to God keeps me rooted in truth and I pray that our children will be rooted in the truth as well.

These last days I have been thinking about the power of perseverance. There are so many things that only can be achieved through being perseverant.

I think being perseverant is hard at times. Naturally, I tend to jump from one project to another. Keeping my focus and keeping on going when I don’t see instant results is challenging.

Still, I think we often are called to keep on going, no matter the circumstances.

What is perseverance?

According to Cambridge Dictionary perseverance is a continued effort to do or achieve something, even when this is difficult or takes a long time.

Perseverance is needed when life is hard and when you don’t see the results that you wish you would fast enough.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

2 Timothy 4:7-8

In 2 Timothy Paul says that he has fought the good fight. Life is a fight. No one will live life without a fight.

There is a fight that we all are facing. Sometimes we feel like we are in the thick of it and sometimes we feel like life is a breeze.

We are all in different seasons.

Scriptures on Endurance and Perseverance

Romans 5:3-5

“Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Perseverance is produced in suffering. Perseverance is not produced in times when life is easy but in suffering.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Galatians 6:9

“Let us not become weary in doing good.” Let’s not become weary in doing good, no matter if we see the result of our effort right now, let’s not become weary in doing good.

Hebrews chapter 10 verse 36 says that we need to persevere so that when we have done the will of God, we will receive what he has promised.

We need perseverance in doing the will of God. Staying firm in times of opposition takes perseverance.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love always perseveres! God has always loved us with a love that always trusts, hopes, and perseveres.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:37-39

God has equipped you with his eternal love. There is nothing that can separate you from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus.

Being perseverant has often for me meant letting go of my own agenda. Sometimes we need to let go of control and just be in his presence and allow God to fill us up with patience and hope for the future.

God is so close to you and is always there to equip you as you take steps in the things that he is calling you into.

Easter is a time when we remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. A time when we are reminded of God’s great love for us, the power in the resurrection, and the freedom we get to live in because of what happened so many years ago.

There are no words to describe the greatness of what Jesus did for us.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

John 15:13

“Greater love has no one than this: ta lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Jesus laid down his life for us.

““Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.”

Luke 22:42-44

Maybe one could think that it wasn’t that hard for Jesus to die because he knew why he had to do it and he knew that he would rise again. But we can see in Luke chapter 22 that Jesus was in anguish.

Jesus was fully human and he had to suffer a lot on his way to the cross.

Jesus went through death to save us. There is no greater love than the love that God has for us.

God’s Love Is Unconditional

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Ephesians 2:8

It is by grace that we have been saved. It is a gift from God. We can’t do anything to deserve God’s love. God loves us because of who we are not because of what we do.

God longs to spend time with us. We were created so that we can be in communication with him and do life together with him.

A new year brings new projects and dreams for many of us. Some of us are motivated, others are overwhelmed.

These last few weeks have been a very restful time for our family. We are visiting family in Colombia, and have experienced a lot of slow days and quality time with family.

However, I know that 2022 will have days when I can’t seem to accomplish enough. On those days, I often experience how God is teaching me about true rest, what it means to rest in Him.

God created us for a close relationship with him. God designed us to be dependent on him. I experience rest in the deepest sense only when I live relying on and trusting entirely in Him.

Dependency on God only comes when I surrender myself completely to Him. During easier days when I feel like I have everything under control, I find it harder to give up control. I don’t know how surrendering is for you, but it’s easier for me to surrender when times are hard.

I pray that 2022 will be a year when I choose to surrender both on easy and challenging days. That it will be a year of true rest in the one who has designed me and knows me best.

Comforting Bible Verses About Rest

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

Isaiah 26:3

God promises perfect peace to those whose minds remain fixed on him. When we put our trust in someone or something, we usually fix our minds on that. When we trust in the Lord, we keep our minds focused on him.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Phil 4:6-7

Philippians speaks about the same thing. As long as we don’t dwell on our problems, but by prayer and petition present our requests to God, the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds.

Even during hectic or difficult times, when we dwell in his peace, we are able to fully rest in him.

“In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.”

Psalm 127:2

A few months ago, God gave me this verse. I had been putting too much focus on things that actually shouldn’t have been a priority at that time, leading to late nights and little sleep.

I pray that 2022 will be a year when I do the things that God has given me to do and understand when to prioritize slower days and time with family.

At times when I feel I am getting stressed, there are two questions I ask God that have helped me a lot during many years now.

1. What is the main thing I should focus on today?
2. Is there something taking too much of my attention that I need to surrender to you?

These two questions have saved me from so much stress. I encourage you to ask these questions to God if you feel stressed and feel like you don’t get enough thing done during the day.

Sometimes we need to learn how to delegate and ask for help. Other times we need to refocus and ask God what we really should be putting our time to and trust God with all the others things we think we need to get done.

We pray that you have had a wonderful start on 2022. God is with you and are so excited to show you new things this year.

2021 is coming to an end and at the time I am writing this, 2022 is just a few days away.

At the beginning of each year I ask God for a word for the year; and this year he is speaking about the word “faith”.

Therefore, I am studying what the Bible says about faith and thought I would share that with you. 
Let’s start in Hebrews and 2 Corinthians.

How Does The Bible Define Faith?

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Hebrews 11:1

Confidence is defined as “the feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something.” by Oxford languages.

Having faith means being confident in the things unseen.

“For we live by faith, not by sight.”

2 Cor 5:7

In 2 Corinthians chapter 5, Paul reminds the church in Corinth that we are to live by faith and not by sight.
I think we all have a tendency to easily put our confidence in material things and circumstances. At least that is a tendency I have.

God has promised to never forsake the people he calls. So we can be confident in his faithfulness at all times.

Bible Verses About Faith And Trust In God

““Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?””

Matthew 14:28-31

I have been challenged by Matthew 14 so many times!
Peter actually walked on water together with Jesus, how cool isn’t that!?

In verse 30 Peter starts to realize he is walking among waves, and that the wind is strong. Focusing on circumstances often fills us with fear and anxiety.

As long as our minds are fixed on Jesus, we can keep living the life he calls us to. In our own strength we won’t succeed.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

“I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.”

1 Corinthians 2:3-5

When we fully understand God’s power and that he will bless us when we walk in obedience, we can live boldly even when life gets tough.

I pray that 2022 will be a year when I rest in confidence in God’s power. He is all-powerful. He will always equip when he calls someone.

To dig a little deeper and let God reveal his truth to you, there are a few questions to process and pray over down below.

Read 2 Cor 5:28-31 again and ask God these questions:

• Are there any circumstances in my life that robs me of my faith?
• If yes, take some time to give these circumstances to God and choose to fully rely on God’s power.

Read 1 Corinthians 2:3-5 again and ask God:

• Is my life a demonstration of God’s power or human wisdom?
• In what ways can I demonstrate God’s power to the people around me today?

We pray that you will have a wonderful start to the new year.

God has so much in store for you.

When He looks at you He sees so much beauty. He created you for a reason and formed you in your mother’s womb.

2 Tim 3:16-17

Something I have learned during past years is that living life with God is not always comfortable. The growing, rebuking, and correcting part is not always an easy way to go. But it is always worth it.

He will equip you for the things he leads you into.
