Okay, time for a story… this is how this website came to be.

The Start Of This Website

One August night, 8 years ago now, I couldn’t fall asleep. I was thinking about our oldest daughter, who at that time was about 6 months old.

I remember that I so badly wanted her to grow up knowing how much purpose her life had, that she was created by the creator of the universe and that her life mattered so much just because she was the daughter of the King of kings and so unique.

Every single person reflects God in such a unique way, and I hoped that she would know that and remember that every day.

Why Is It Hard To Remember What is True?

Even if we hear all these things in church and we can read about them in the Bible, it seems that everyday life and all the other information that we get from so many different places make us forget what is true.

Living every day, knowing that our lives matter and that God has so many thoughts for us makes us live the life that we were created for.

Remembering what is true about us and our creator gives us protection from all the lies that the enemy wants us to believe and let form the way we live.

How Can We Remember What Is True?

So that August night, eight years ago, I was praying about how I, as a mother, could help our child to find ways to remember what is true.

One thing that came into my mind was that finding ways to regularly get reminded of what the Bibel says in everyday life throughout our days would be a really good way to make sure it forms the way we live our days.

So, one wish for this website is exactly that, that it could be a creative place where you can be reminded of who you are and who made you. There are a lot of free printables available with Bible verses that can be a help to remind us of what is true.

In this blog post, you will find some free printable coloring pages that you can print out and color and later keep in a place where you will see them throughout your day. Or you can give it to a friend who needs encouragement.

When The Task At Hand Feels Too Much To Handle

One thing I do sometimes when the task at hand feels too much to handle is that I listen to a YouTube clip by Priscilla Shirer. I will leave the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXxDZND0wUM

I highly recommend listening to that clip if you feel like God is leading you to a task that is too big for you to handle. Those times will happen because God wants to do things together with us, and we are made to live dependent on him.

So feeling like we badly need him in order to succeed in the things is actually the exact way that we are meant to live. We are created to live in a relationship with our creator, doing things together with him.

These Next Few Months

These next few months, there are a lot of things happening in our family. I am starting a new job, our youngest daughter will start preschool, the older kids will go back to school, and my husband will go back to work after some time spent at home with our children.

I won’t have much time to write blog posts. In times like that, I like to remind myself of why I started this blog in the first place. Because knowing our why is a huge motivator.

I will keep posting new blog posts as much as I can, hopefully that means that you won’t notice a big difference in our posting schedule, but I don’t know exactly how everything will work out.

So, that is a short update from our part. We are so happy that you have found our website, and you can know that I will do my very best in posting as much as I can, also during the coming months.

Two things that Jesus tells us that we are when we follow him is salt and light. Salt and light are two things that affect their whole surrounding in a very positive way.

When you add salt to food, it gives taste to the whole dish, it spreads out, and when it has been added, it’s impossible to take away.

When you enter a dark room and you turn on the lights, it changes the way you see the whole room. Things you couldn’t see before are now noticeable.

When we follow Jesus, we get to bring the light that He is into the places we go.

Jesus Is The Light Of The World

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””
John 8:12

John Chapter 8 verse 12 tells us that when we follow Jesus, we will never walk in darkness but have the light of life.

So when we follow Jesus, we get to live life not in darkness but in light. The light that Jesus gives us gets to transform us, and that transformation will be visible to others.

Who Are We Called To Be?

I think most of us, at some point, think about who we were made to be and for what reason we are here on this earth. When Jesus was on this earth, he did talk about two things that we are called to be and that is that we are called to be salt and light.

As mentioned earlier, he also said that he is the light of the world. I think it is so cool to remember that we get to be light because of who lives in us. So much of who we are called to be and what we are called to do is rooted in who Jesus is and what he did for us.

Jesus Gives Us Rest

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30

It is so easy to fall into carrying things that we aren’t meant to carry. Sometimes when we talk about the future and what God is calling us to, we focus so much on the gifting that we have been given and focus on what we are skilled in doing. But it might be more important to remember who we belong to.

So much of what we are called to do comes out of who God is instead of what we can do. When we choose to keep our eyes on Jesus and who he is, we get to be transformed by him and be a part of transforming our surroundings through the light that we have been given by him.

So we get to be salt and light because of who we belong to. It is not out of our own strength but through the transformation of our hearts that happens when we follow Jesus.

Remembering that is not always easy, but it truly brings so much rest.

This Bible verse from Psalm 119 has been on my mind quite a lot these last few months. A podcast I listened to last year pointed out to me that the lamp that was used during the time that this Psalm was written only gives light for a few steps ahead.

I think that we often these days are so used to street lights that light up the whole path before us. It’s not that often that we walk on paths with a small light that only gives light for the next few steps.

I have read Psalm 119 many times before. These last few months I have started to think about this verse about God’s word being a lamp for my life more as something that affects my everyday life.

Just as lamps during the time this Psalm was written only gave light for the next few steps, we get to seek God for every next step we take. God wants to be involved in our everyday lives.

God Cares About every Next Step We Take

I know from my life that on the days that feel challenging or extra important, I tend to seek God but sometimes during the very “normal” days I don’t include God as much. Also, when I need to make a big decision I make sure to seek God for that but I think God also cares about small decisions we make.

These last few months I have been reminded that God cares about every next step we take, even the steps we take that feel small to us.

How Can The Word Of God Be A Light In Our Lives?

The Bible is full of truth. When we let the word of God transform us it affects the way we live our lives. When we let God’s word define our worth and purpose and build our beliefs on the truth we won’t stumble. Just like a little light gives enough light so that we see how to place our feet for the very next step, God wants to guide us for every next step we make.

Only having enough light for the next few steps demands us to trust God. Even if we don’t see exactly where we are heading, we know that God is in control that He knows exactly what is best for us and that he has many good things in store for us.

Romans 12:2 – Then You Will Be Able To Test And Approve What God’s Will Is

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2

When transformation of our minds happens and we build our lives of the truth, we will know what God’s will is. God’s will is good, pleasing and perfect. In order for us to know his will, we need to let him transform our way of thinking.

I think this transformation is an ongoing process that we get to choose to live in. Letting the word of God transform our minds is a daily choice. There is always more! God has always something new for us.

There is so much still lying ahead of us that we will get to experience together with God. Life with God is very exciting.

Thy Word Is A Lamp Unto My Feet Coloring Pages

Canva is a tool I use almost every week for different kinds of graphics. Something else I use a lot is Photoshop, ever since I started to learn more about how to design things on the computer these two programs have been to go-to places I use for design.

Photoshop has always been a place to design coloring pages but a couple of months ago I read somewhere that you can use Canva to make coloring pages. That sounded like fun so let’s try that. Here are a couple of them.

Well, well.. I don’t know what you think. I might need some more practice to but Canva does make design easy, I have to say that.

Jesus says that he is the light of the world. Whoever follows Jesus will not walk in darkness but have the light of life.

Every day we make choices of what we want to prioritize. We follow a lot of different people and accounts on different social media platforms. We all get a lot of different information and advice from so many different people and channels.

When we choose to let the teachings of Jesus influence us and guide us we will get advice and truth that make us walk in light. Even if our circumstances might be hard and the world around us might be confusing, Jesus always stays the same.

So by choosing to follow what is true, we won’t stumble.

Your Word Is a Lamp For My Feet

“Your word is a lamp for my feet,
    a light on my path.”
Psalm 119:105

God wants to guide us for every new step we need to take. It doesn’t matter if the next step we will take feels like a big or a small one to us, God cares and wants to be there with us.

The lamps that were used during the time when Psalm 119 was written were lights that gave just enough light for the next step. These days we are so used to seeing the whole path lit up by street lights but before street lights were invented, you couldn’t see the path that clearly. The lights that were used gave enough light for the next few steps.

This is how we get to live our lives with God. God wants to guide us for the next few steps and most of the time we don’t know exactly where the path will lead us. God wants us to trust him. God is so faithful, He deserves our trust.

John 8:12 Craft Activity

In the image above you can see how you can use these two following printables. Both images here below have the size A4 and we suggest that you use a thicker paper to print out the first image.

This other printable has a lot of light bulbs. As we prepared this craft for a group of children we needed plenty of light bulbs and printed out multiples of the first printable as well.

But if you will make only two cards, feel free to use the rest of the light bulbs for some other craft project you have in mind.

We hope that you will have a lot of fun with these crafts. Doing something creative to process something that you are learning, is a good way to make sure the things you are trying to learn aren’t forgotten that easily.

Memorizing scripture is also a good way to make sure that the word of God will be accessible to you when you need it most. So teaching our children Bible verses by heart is a good way to equip them for life.

Today it’s Valentine’s Day and that day is celebrated in many different countries all around the world. Valentine’s Day is a perfect excuse to show some love to the people around us that we care about.

I don’t know what Valentine’s Day looks like where you live, in some parts of the world it seems like Valentine’s Day is mostly celebrated by couples and it’s celebrated in a romantic way.

In Finland, where I grew up, Valentine’s Day is called “friend day”. It is a day when friendship is celebrated. I grew up, telling people “Happy Friend Day”, on the 14th of February.

On Friends’ Day in Finland, you could get a card or note from a friend to wish each other a Happy Friend Day. I kind of like that tradition. I think we more often celebrate the love between couples than see the value of true friendship.

So let’s take the chance to show our friends that we appreciate them this Valentine’s Day. One way of doing that could be to give them a card. Making a personal card for someone you care about is made really easy by using one of these coloring cards below. These coloring cards are free to download and print out.

Friendship is something we can read about in the Bible, here is a verse from Proverbs that describes friendship really well.

Friends who give heartfelt advice are so valuable.

True friends are not afraid to be honest. I think there is something so beautiful about how friends when they trust in each other, can be honest and know that that’s okay.

Having a friend who dares to give advice that is challenging is something that can bring growth when it’s needed.

The Bible talks about how we get to love because God first loved us. Jesus showed us such a radical love through the death on the cross that He suffered for our sins.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. That sacrificial love that Jesus has for us is for everyone. Maybe you know someone who needs a reminder that they are unconditionally loved.

Printing out this coloring page and giving it to someone can be a creative way to remind someone that they are deeply loved by their creator and heavenly Father.

    one can help the other up.

I remember that the verses from Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 were quoted at our wedding. I think knowing that we are stronger together is a very good foundation to build life on. We were not created to spend our life alone in isolation.

“If either of them falls down, one can help the other up”. I have seen this so very true in our marriage. When one of us is worn down and tired, it’s so good to know there is someone else there to support us.

Same thing with friends. When we choose to surround ourselves with community and friends, we have people to celebrate with when there are things to celebrate but also we have people in our lives to help us up when that is needed.

We are in the midst of summer here where we live, and that means that many people are out in their summerhouses and the pace of life has slowed down.

Our family has a couple more weeks of vacations and the pace of life is a little bit slower than usual for us as well.

That is with an emphasis on a little because we do have three kids seven years and younger so life doesn’t really get that slow in this season of life. 😉

But we are enjoying the opportunity to meet friends and to do things together as a family.

One thing that I really wanted to do during this summer was to read books and I am really happy that I actually have succeeded in reading two books this far and I hope I will keep up that pace.

Reading was always a part of summer when I was younger but these last years I have really not read a lot of books at all.

I think I have told myself that I am too busy to read books but I have also realized that I feel much more refreshed after reading a book than scrolling on my phone. So this summer my goal is to do less scrolling and read more books.

I hope I will succeed in taking that new habit into fall when that time comes.

Free Bookmark Coloring Pages

Talking about scrolling…

When I do scroll on my phone I often find myself lost in Pinterest.

So.. a couple of weeks ago when I was on Pinterest I saw a pin of some really cute crocheted bookmarks that I would love to crochet at a time when life is less busy but as I saw them I got the idea of making some coloring pages of a size of a bookmark that you can print out on a thicker paper and keep in a book as a bookmark.

That idea did not require that much time to make happen so here down below is a free printable sheet with three bookmarks to cut out.

A Nice Activity When You Are Traveling

Apart from reading, this summer has also been a summer of a lot of traveling for our family. Our family has visited both my husband’s family in Colombia and my family in Finland. We have spent so many hours on airplanes, trains, and in the car.

When we are traveling this much I am thinking a lot about activities that we can have for the kids as we are traveling.

As parents of small children, we don’t have much time to read books or watch movies when we are traveling but it is so good for our children to have some creative activities to do when we are on the road, or in the air. 😉

Having a coloring page as a bookmark could be a nice activity when you are traveling if you have older kids or for yourself. I think I would find it really relaxing to do some coloring when I am in a plane or on a train.

So you could print out these bookmarks and finish the coloring before placing it in you book or you could bring it in a book that you are reading and finish coloring it later.

Memorizing Scripture – Bookmark With Bible Verse

“God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.”

One of the bookmarks here above has a Bible verse. If you are trying to memorize a specific Bible verse, having a bookmark with the Bible verse in a book you are reading or in your calendar can really help you to keep that Bible verse in mind.

This summer I have been trying to memorize Psalm 91. Memorizing scripture, or anything else for that matter, has never been very easy for me so I am doing my best but it takes time for me to get words to stay in my mind.

So I need any help I can get when I try to memorize something. Reading out loud has been my latest strategy, and I think that has helped a little bit.

But anyway, If you find memorizing things easy, please leave me some tips in the comments. I really see how valuable it is to have scripture memorized when life gets busy and challenging and we need wisdom for the situation we are in.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing! I like the confidence David has in the Lord in this first verse of Psalm 23. David knew that because the Lord was his shepherd, he would lack nothing!

Having that kind of confidence in the Lord comes only from knowing him deeply and trusting that He is a good father and that he is our provider.

“He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.”

Psalm 23:2-3

David continues; he makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.

David knew God as someone who leads him to quiet waters and that refreshed his soul. God is faithful in giving us rest. He is our creator and he knows that we have the capacity to be creative and do a lot of things but he also knows that we need time spent with our creator and we need rest.

God knows our design and he is faithful in giving us what we need. Staying close to our creator is a good way to know that we will have what we need.

Free Printable Psalm 23 Coloring Pages

As I am writing this blog post we are on vacation as a family. We are enjoying the Scandinavian summer, enjoying some time off from work, and spending time visiting friends and family.

These weeks are weeks of rest (if that is possible with three small children :D) and we are thankful to spend time together not so focused on all the normal things that need to be done.

Even if our children keep us busy anywhere we go we are lucky to have family around us during these weeks that help us a lot with our children. So these weeks are weeks that we hope to be resting and maybe getting some energy for the upcoming fall.

I Will Fear No Evil, For You Are With Me

“I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”. The first few verses of Psalm 23 talks about how God refreshes our souls and leads us to green pastures. God knows our needs and provides for us.

In verse 4 we are reminded of that even when we walk through the darkest valley, we don’t need to fear evil because our God is with us.

I have been reminded of the fact that the Bible talks about how we will walk through hard times but that we won’t be alone when life gets hard, many times these last months.

God never promised us that life would be easy, the Bible talks about hardships and all of us go through hard seasons. But God promises us to stay the same through every season of our lives.

When we understand how great God is and how great his power is we can have a lot of comfort in knowing that he is with us.

Processing In A Creative Way

Processing God’s word in a creative way is a good way to let God work on our hearts. Through doing something creative to process scripture I have had many really good moments when God has revealed new things about who he is and what is true.

These coloring pages can be used to process the verses from Psalm 23, God always has something new he wants to show us. He is never ending and there is always more that we can understand about who he is and how he sees us.

Even when the seasons of your life change, God will always stay the same. God will never leave you, his goodness and love will follow you all the days of your life.

Summer is here and for many of us, summer means that we get to enjoy a little bit of rest and having some time with friends and family.

July is the big vacation month here where we live and as I am writing this it’s the first of July and many of the people we know are leaving for vacations right now.

Getting to rest and get some time to slow down is such a valuable thing. I look forward to enjoying this summer, to spend time at the beach and our summer place.

But something that I also wish for this summer is that I wouldn’t take a break from God. I know I have done it before and I guess I’m not the only one. Sometimes when our routines are not as they usually are we tend to get out of the habit of spending time with God.

That has happened to me so many times but I really wish that this summer would be a time to stay focused on what God is teaching me.

So, if you are anything like me we can do this together. Let’s stick to a routine of seeking God even when we leave for vacations, a planned trip, or whatever this summer holds for you.

Creative Ways To Read Scripture

These last weeks I have been thinking about how much God’s word has transformed the way I view life, myself, and the people around me.

God’s word truly has the power to change lives.

When I, many years ago now, decided to do a discipleship training school with YWAM I got an opportunity to read God’s word and learn about how to apply it to my life in a way that was so good for me.

One of the tasks we got was to write a journal about what we had learned during the week and what God was teaching us through the teaching and other activities that we took part in. And we were encouraged to do so in a creative way.

I am a person who likes creativity, I guess that is obvious if you see this website. I like to knit and do creative things but for some reason, I thought that it was hard to be creative with the way that I wrote that journal. The first week I used some different colors when I wrote in the journal but I remember that I got a note from my mentor that encouraged me to be creative.

Using Creativity To Process

During the months of my DTS, my journal got more and more creative and I started to see the value in being creative with the things I felt God was teaching me and process the teaching in a creative way to let God reveal more things to me.

Creativity for me makes me zoom out and focus on the big picture and how everything relates. It makes me focus on the big point that God is highlighting and helps me find ways to apply what I am learning to the way I live.

So, creativity can be used in so many different ways to process what God wants to teach us right now.

Coloring is one of our favorite activities in our family. We have three kids, seven, four, and two years old and they all like to color. Some days they prefer a blank paper and like to draw something on their own but it is also fun to have some coloring pages at hand.

God’s creativity is so evident in creation, he could have decided to create anything and he decided to create you. There is so much intention behind everything God creates.

For God so loved you that He gave his Son to die for you! Jesus died on the cross for you!

I remember the first Easter as a child when I understood what Easter was all about. I heard about Jesus and that he died on the cross so that we could have eternal life. I remember that it actually shook me a little bit, that someone had died on a cross for the sake of someone else. 

”But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus died for us even though we had turned our back to him and sinned. God did not send his Son to die for us because we deserved it but because He loved us so much!

God’s love is unconditional. There is nothing we can do to make him love us more or less. God will always love us. He will not love everything we do but He will always love us.

”Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”

John 15:13

Letting God Reveal New Things

The Easter story reveals so much about God’s love for us. For me it was easier to believe that Jesus came to save the whole world than to really understand that Jesus died for me. Understanding that God not only is a loving God but that He actually loves each and one of us can sometimes take some time to really sink in.

When I did a Dischipleship Training School with YWAM from many years ago now, one of our teachers asked us the question “Do you really believe what you believe that you believe?”

That question might sound strange at first but I think we sometimes think we believe something but then again we don’t really believe it.

I have realized that even if I had heard that God loves me so many times and I thought I believed it, God had so much more of His love that he wanted to show me. He still does.

The Story Of Easter Is Life-Changing

The week of Easter is a special time when God wants to reveal more of his love for you. When we get to know him deeper, our trust in him becomes greater. When we truly understand that he loves each of us so deeply and that he truly wants our very best, fears dishappears.

God so loved you that he sent his son to die for you. 

Understanding God’s love for us changes us.

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

1 John 4:18

When the story of Easter is becoming personal in our lives it truly changes us. When we understand that God is not only a loving God to all people but that He actually loves each of us we can start trusting in Him really wanting our best.

So many times we make plans and then we ask God to bless them. But if we learn to trust God we can start trusting Him with our lives. We can seek him and trust that he will guide us in a loving and perfect way.

Free Easter Scripture Printables For Reflection

One way of spending time together with God is to read his word and to let him reveal new things to us. Being creative has always been one of the ways that I really have enjoy doing when spending time with God. Taking time to process and to pray and just talk to God about the things we read in his word can really transform us. 

Writing is sometimes a way of just getting our thoughts down on paper. Writing down our prayers or new things that we learn is also a way of remembering it later on.

The Bible is such an endless source of wisdom that we all can keep on getting wisdom and guidance from. Reading the Bible on a regular basis is really just such a blessing.

Sometimes it is hard to know when to fit that into our schedule but I know from personal experience that the seasons in my life when I have prioritized reading God’s word have been the most fruitful ones.

Reading the Bible also makes me keep my focus on the most important things and not lose perspective on life. So I really try to make some time each day to read the word and talk with God.

Just as light shines for everyone in a room, we get to share the things that we have received from God with everyone in our surroundings.

As I am writing this, we are only a week away from Easter. God so loved the world that He sent His only son to die for us(John 3:16). Jesus died for us so that could live forgiven and free from sin. Jesus won over death and death has now lost its sting.

These news are so amazing. We get to share these news to people around us and fill their lives with hope and redemption. Shining our light might look different for everyone. Some of us are outgoing while others are more introverted.

I definitely fit more into the introverted category. I am not the first person to speak. But I do believe that God is the one that gave us the personality we have and the gifting we have. He also says that we all are a part of shining in this world so each of us can share our light in different ways.

Last week I listened to a podcast episode on the Whoa that’s good podcast where Sadie Robertson and her husband talked a little bit about how we all are unique but that we all get to be a part of sharing the good news with the world.

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. There is so much power in words.

Sometimes I think it is easy to think that it doesn’t matter so much how we express ourselves and I know I at least have thought before that no-one really cares about what I say so then it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if the words are use not always are loving and kind. But I have learnt that that is not so.

There is so much power in words. Through our words we can choose to build up or tear down, we can choose to encourage or discourage. The last years I have really tried to keep on encouraging. This is also something we are trying to teach our kids. From a young age, our words has power to create something uplifting or tear down.

Gracious words are sweet to the soul.

Be strong and courageous. This is a verse that really has stuck with our middle child. This past fall, He was not so happy about returning to preschool and the first morning back I told Him to say those words out loud.

“I am strong and courageous” He said, first not really believing what He said but now we can hear him saying those words so often. 😀 It is so cool to see that the words we speak out form the way we view ourselves and our surroundings.

The most powerful part of the verse is not the strong and courageous part, the reason we can be strong and courageous is that the Lord our God is with us. God is so great and he is by our side when we choose to follow Jesus. So we don’t need to find all the answers in ourselves, we get to be defined by the purposes God has put on our lives.

So, remember, You as a follower of Christ, can be strong and courageous because the Lord your god will be with you.

You don’t need to be strong in yourself and know all the answers. God is the one that is in control and He loves you so much! You are seen and your life has so much purpose.
