This week we are visiting my family in Finland for Christmas, and our expectations were that we would go skiing. However, a couple of days before we arrived, the little snow on the ground melted away. So there is no snow at all at the moment.

So now we are hoping for some colder days as we go back to Sweden. Hopefully, we will get some snow this winter as well.

But as we are waiting, we can at least do some Winter themed coloring.

Snowy Coloring Pages

Holidays often mean traveling for our family. One of the activities that we pack for our children when we travel is often some coloring pages and coloring pens. Coloring has a calming effect on most children.

I think we, as adults, can feel the same thing that doing something creative can be relaxing.

When we travel, our kids always seem to have a lot of energy, and at times it can be hard to know how to help them relax, sometimes coloring works really well.

Okay, time for a story… this is how this website came to be.

The Start Of This Website

One August night, 8 years ago now, I couldn’t fall asleep. I was thinking about our oldest daughter, who at that time was about 6 months old.

I remember that I so badly wanted her to grow up knowing how much purpose her life had, that she was created by the creator of the universe and that her life mattered so much just because she was the daughter of the King of kings and so unique.

Every single person reflects God in such a unique way, and I hoped that she would know that and remember that every day.

Why Is It Hard To Remember What is True?

Even if we hear all these things in church and we can read about them in the Bible, it seems that everyday life and all the other information that we get from so many different places make us forget what is true.

Living every day, knowing that our lives matter and that God has so many thoughts for us makes us live the life that we were created for.

Remembering what is true about us and our creator gives us protection from all the lies that the enemy wants us to believe and let form the way we live.

How Can We Remember What Is True?

So that August night, eight years ago, I was praying about how I, as a mother, could help our child to find ways to remember what is true.

One thing that came into my mind was that finding ways to regularly get reminded of what the Bibel says in everyday life throughout our days would be a really good way to make sure it forms the way we live our days.

So, one wish for this website is exactly that, that it could be a creative place where you can be reminded of who you are and who made you. There are a lot of free printables available with Bible verses that can be a help to remind us of what is true.

In this blog post, you will find some free printable coloring pages that you can print out and color and later keep in a place where you will see them throughout your day. Or you can give it to a friend who needs encouragement.

When The Task At Hand Feels Too Much To Handle

I highly recommend listening to that clip if you feel like God is leading you to a task that is too big for you to handle. Those times will happen because God wants to do things together with us, and we are made to live dependent on him.

So feeling like we badly need him in order to succeed in the things is actually the exact way that we are meant to live. We are created to live in a relationship with our creator, doing things together with him.

These Next Few Months

These next few months, there are a lot of things happening in our family. I am starting a new job, our youngest daughter will start preschool, the older kids will go back to school, and my husband will go back to work after some time spent at home with our children.

I won’t have much time to write blog posts. In times like that, I like to remind myself of why I started this blog in the first place. Because knowing our why is a huge motivator.

I will keep posting new blog posts as much as I can, hopefully that means that you won’t notice a big difference in our posting schedule, but I don’t know exactly how everything will work out.

So, that is a short update from our part. We are so happy that you have found our website, and you can know that I will do my very best in posting as much as I can, also during the coming months.

Two things that Jesus tells us that we are when we follow him is salt and light. Salt and light are two things that affect their whole surrounding in a very positive way.

When you add salt to food, it gives taste to the whole dish, it spreads out, and when it has been added, it’s impossible to take away.

When you enter a dark room and you turn on the lights, it changes the way you see the whole room. Things you couldn’t see before are now noticeable.

When we follow Jesus, we get to bring the light that He is into the places we go.

Jesus Is The Light Of The World

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””
John 8:12

John Chapter 8 verse 12 tells us that when we follow Jesus, we will never walk in darkness but have the light of life.

So when we follow Jesus, we get to live life not in darkness but in light. The light that Jesus gives us gets to transform us, and that transformation will be visible to others.

Who Are We Called To Be?

I think most of us, at some point, think about who we were made to be and for what reason we are here on this earth. When Jesus was on this earth, he did talk about two things that we are called to be and that is that we are called to be salt and light.

As mentioned earlier, he also said that he is the light of the world. I think it is so cool to remember that we get to be light because of who lives in us. So much of who we are called to be and what we are called to do is rooted in who Jesus is and what he did for us.

Jesus Gives Us Rest

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30

It is so easy to fall into carrying things that we aren’t meant to carry. Sometimes when we talk about the future and what God is calling us to, we focus so much on the gifting that we have been given and focus on what we are skilled in doing. But it might be more important to remember who we belong to.

So much of what we are called to do comes out of who God is instead of what we can do. When we choose to keep our eyes on Jesus and who he is, we get to be transformed by him and be a part of transforming our surroundings through the light that we have been given by him.

So we get to be salt and light because of who we belong to. It is not out of our own strength but through the transformation of our hearts that happens when we follow Jesus.

Remembering that is not always easy, but it truly brings so much rest.

At the beginning of June, we celebrate our youngest daughter’s birthday. This year she turned three. It is crazy to think how fast years fly by. The saying “days are long but years are short” might sound like a cliche but it is very very true.

We don’t have a baby anymore in our house. That thought is slowly sinking in. I guess our daughter technically hasn’t been a baby for a couple of years already but I think something happens when children turn three. They suddenly start playing a lot with kids their age and they are communicating so well with words.

I am really looking forward to this next year of our daughter’s life!

Our daughter’s birthday was celebrated with a cake with friends in my sister’s garden. It was a very windy but also a very nice day to celebrate our daughter’s life.

A Month With Many Birthday Parties

Apart from our daughter’s birthday, our other daughter has also celebrated a couple of her friend’s birthdays. June seems to be a pretty common months for birthdays.

Birthday cards are one part of birthdays that can be a fun thing to make yourself. A handmade card is a sign of care and it is easy to make it personal.

Even if it is fun to be creative and make cards it can also be time-consuming so sometimes it can be nice to find ways to make something yourself but in a more simple way.

These birthday cake coloring pages were made in Canva. Canva can be a fun tool to use to make your own coloring pages. Most of the coloring pages that we have published on our website are designed by us in Photoshop but I have to say that Canva also is a really effective tool for designing coloring pages.

Why Don’t Our Children Like Cake?

Cake, cake, cake. On some birthdays we have skipped making a cake altogether just because our children seem to not like cake that much. Chips, candy and ice cream are big favorites but for some reason, they don’t like cake much.

This year, though, I thought I would mix some of our daughter’s favorite things into a cake and that she might like that but nooo. That did not work. But at least our guests got to eat some cake. 😉

Wildflower Coloring Page

These last few years I have planted a few different things from seed in March to prep for the coming summer. I have tried to grow tomatoes, cucumbers and beans. In earlier years I have succeeded with some of it at least. But this year has not been a good year when it comes to growing things from seed.

Last year, we had two different tomato plants that really did very well so I went all in on tomatoes this year and started out with about 10 small plants in April. But for some reason, I thought I wanted to put them out on the balcony quite early even if this spring has been cold and now I have only one tomato plant left!

So, truly, not a good seed-planting year for me this year! This makes me amazed at how beautiful wildflowers can be! Even if I have put down so much effort into my seeds and plants, they are not growing well.

But wildflowers seem to thrive, sometimes in the most unlikely places.

I have read these Bible verses many times thinking about how God is our provider, but this time when I am reading these verses I think about how wild flowers can represent projects we do in life.

Sometimes I think I tend to live life with projects like planting flowers. I have an idea and I put a lot of effort into making it happen. I love goal setting and working hard to see ideas come to reality. And that is a good thing.

But I think that the most successful projects we can have are the ones that God puts on our hearts. When God gets to be with us in the process from the beginning, it is so much easier to just let go of control and let him water and tend to them in his timing.

That is just a reminder wildflowers are giving me. I hope to make space for more wildflowers in my life. Because when I see that God gets to be involved from the very beginning in things I do in life, it’s also easier to let go and let him be the one in control.

A Summer Of Recharging

This summer, will for me mean a lot of work. I won’t have much vacation but I still hope it will be a time of reflecting and allowing God to give direction for the coming months.

I hope that you too, will have a summer that will refresh you. If your summer, just like mine means a lot of work, I hope that you even so will find space to let God meet you in the season you are in right now.

Right now where we live, we are in the middle of such a beautiful time of cherry trees that are blooming, the sun is warm and everything around us is starting to look green and alive.

It is such a beautiful time of year when we get to enjoy the warmer weather and it’s nice to know that this is just the beginning of a warmer season when we get to enjoy so much time outside.

Usually, I am the person who really enjoys fall. The beautiful colors of fall and cozy evenings are maybe my favorite time of year but this year I am actually really looking forward to summer. Maybe that is because of my children, they are really excited, they are already talking about the beach and things of summer and that I guess makes me excited as well.

But, most summers also come with rainy days. So it’s good to also be prepared for that. On rainy days we do get outside as well but most of the rainy days we spend more time inside and for those days coloring can be a fun activity.

These months of late spring and summer have been really fun and exciting months for our website these last few years. Those are the months on our website when more and more people usually find our website and it’s always fun to look at what is trending right now.

I was looking at which of our coloring pages are trending on Pinterest right now and apart from the coloring picture with the sun, these were the ones that are to most popular now. All fit into the theme of spring and summer.

I guess we are quite many right now that really enjoy this time of year and the coloring pages we print out seem to follow that theme.

A few weeks ago I published a blog post with some coloring pages that I made through Canva. Canva is a really good tool to make graphics with and you can make coloring pages with it as well.

I usually use Photoshop to design graphics and coloring pages but it is fun to try different ways to be creative and try different ways to make graphics.

Here are two coloring pictures that I made through Canva that can be fun to color this summer.

The sea and the sound of boats that are out on the sea were a part of every summer as a child. I grew up close to the sea and I remember every time we went out to our summer place next to the sea how you could hear the boats out on the sea.

That sound is maybe one of the most relaxing sounds I know. And the sea is also something I think of when I think about summer.

During summer our routines often change and it can be easy to get out of the habit of reading our Bible as we usually do. But I have realized that one of the most effective ways for me to rest is actually to spend time with God.

Our creator is so worthy of our praise and at the same time, we are created for a relationship with him. Without him, we would be thirsty(John chapter 4). So I will try my best not to let the habit of reading the Bible disappear from my routines this summer. Maybe you want to join me in that?

This Bible verse from Psalm 119 has been on my mind quite a lot these last few months. A podcast I listened to last year pointed out to me that the lamp that was used during the time that this Psalm was written only gives light for a few steps ahead.

I think that we often these days are so used to street lights that light up the whole path before us. It’s not that often that we walk on paths with a small light that only gives light for the next few steps.

I have read Psalm 119 many times before. These last few months I have started to think about this verse about God’s word being a lamp for my life more as something that affects my everyday life.

Just as lamps during the time this Psalm was written only gave light for the next few steps, we get to seek God for every next step we take. God wants to be involved in our everyday lives.

God Cares About every Next Step We Take

I know from my life that on the days that feel challenging or extra important, I tend to seek God but sometimes during the very “normal” days I don’t include God as much. Also, when I need to make a big decision I make sure to seek God for that but I think God also cares about small decisions we make.

These last few months I have been reminded that God cares about every next step we take, even the steps we take that feel small to us.

How Can The Word Of God Be A Light In Our Lives?

The Bible is full of truth. When we let the word of God transform us it affects the way we live our lives. When we let God’s word define our worth and purpose and build our beliefs on the truth we won’t stumble. Just like a little light gives enough light so that we see how to place our feet for the very next step, God wants to guide us for every next step we make.

Only having enough light for the next few steps demands us to trust God. Even if we don’t see exactly where we are heading, we know that God is in control that He knows exactly what is best for us and that he has many good things in store for us.

Romans 12:2 – Then You Will Be Able To Test And Approve What God’s Will Is

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2

When transformation of our minds happens and we build our lives of the truth, we will know what God’s will is. God’s will is good, pleasing and perfect. In order for us to know his will, we need to let him transform our way of thinking.

I think this transformation is an ongoing process that we get to choose to live in. Letting the word of God transform our minds is a daily choice. There is always more! God has always something new for us.

There is so much still lying ahead of us that we will get to experience together with God. Life with God is very exciting.

Thy Word Is A Lamp Unto My Feet Coloring Pages

Canva is a tool I use almost every week for different kinds of graphics. Something else I use a lot is Photoshop, ever since I started to learn more about how to design things on the computer these two programs have been to go-to places I use for design.

Photoshop has always been a place to design coloring pages but a couple of months ago I read somewhere that you can use Canva to make coloring pages. That sounded like fun so let’s try that. Here are a couple of them.

March is here! Spring is here! Oh, how nice that is! This year we have had a very dark winter here in Sweden. I think we have had snow for maybe two weeks and the rest of the winter has been dark and wet.

Those kinds of winters are not my favorite. I would so much prefer a winter that is a little bit colder but with more snow. Just a little bit of snow makes things more bright.

So, after a winter like this, spring feels so welcome. Days are getting longer and I am looking forward to warmer days.

So, to celebrate that spring is coming, here are some coloring pages with flowers and others things specific to spring and summer.

Easy To Color Coloring Pages For Spring

These coloring pages are free to download and print out for personal use. We ask you NOT to upload them to another website without our permission or linking to our website.

These coloring pages don’t have that many details in them so they are easier to color even for younger kids.

A couple of the coloring pages, the sunflower and the bee have thinner lines so they are a little bit more challenging to color within the lines than the other three.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a sun, cupcake or bee but a cute face always seems to be very appreciated on a coloring page. 😀 And that is very understandable. At least our kids always react when they see something cute.

Jesus says that he is the light of the world. Whoever follows Jesus will not walk in darkness but have the light of life.

Every day we make choices of what we want to prioritize. We follow a lot of different people and accounts on different social media platforms. We all get a lot of different information and advice from so many different people and channels.

When we choose to let the teachings of Jesus influence us and guide us we will get advice and truth that make us walk in light. Even if our circumstances might be hard and the world around us might be confusing, Jesus always stays the same.

So by choosing to follow what is true, we won’t stumble.

Your Word Is a Lamp For My Feet

“Your word is a lamp for my feet,
    a light on my path.”
Psalm 119:105

God wants to guide us for every new step we need to take. It doesn’t matter if the next step we will take feels like a big or a small one to us, God cares and wants to be there with us.

The lamps that were used during the time when Psalm 119 was written were lights that gave just enough light for the next step. These days we are so used to seeing the whole path lit up by street lights but before street lights were invented, you couldn’t see the path that clearly. The lights that were used gave enough light for the next few steps.

This is how we get to live our lives with God. God wants to guide us for the next few steps and most of the time we don’t know exactly where the path will lead us. God wants us to trust him. God is so faithful, He deserves our trust.

This other printable has a lot of light bulbs. As we prepared this craft for a group of children we needed plenty of light bulbs and printed out multiples of the first printable as well.

But if you will make only two cards, feel free to use the rest of the light bulbs for some other craft project you have in mind.

Today it’s Valentine’s Day and that day is celebrated in many different countries all around the world. Valentine’s Day is a perfect excuse to show some love to the people around us that we care about.

I don’t know what Valentine’s Day looks like where you live, in some parts of the world it seems like Valentine’s Day is mostly celebrated by couples and it’s celebrated in a romantic way.

In Finland, where I grew up, Valentine’s Day is called “friend day”. It is a day when friendship is celebrated. I grew up, telling people “Happy Friend Day”, on the 14th of February.

On Friends’ Day in Finland, you could get a card or note from a friend to wish each other a Happy Friend Day. I kind of like that tradition. I think we more often celebrate the love between couples than see the value of true friendship.

So let’s take the chance to show our friends that we appreciate them this Valentine’s Day. One way of doing that could be to give them a card. Friendship is something we can read about in the Bible, here is a verse from Proverbs that describes friendship really well.

“Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart,
    and the pleasantness of a friend
    springs from their heartfelt advice.”
Proverbs 27:9

Friends who give heartfelt advice are so valuable.

True friends are not afraid to be honest. I think there is something so beautiful about how friends when they trust in each other, can be honest and know that that’s okay.

Having a friend who dares to give advice that is challenging is something that can bring growth when it’s needed.

The Bible talks about how we get to love because God first loved us. Jesus showed us such a radical love through the death on the cross that He suffered for our sins.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. That sacrificial love that Jesus has for us is for everyone. Maybe you know someone who needs a reminder that they are unconditionally loved.

Printing out this coloring page and giving it to someone can be a creative way to remind someone that they are deeply loved by their creator and heavenly Father.

I remember that the verses from Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 were quoted at our wedding. I think knowing that we are stronger together is a very good foundation to build life on. We were not created to spend our life alone in isolation.

“If either of them falls down, one can help the other up”. I have seen this so very true in our marriage. When one of us is worn down and tired, it’s so good to know there is someone else there to support us.

Same thing with friends. When we choose to surround ourselves with community and friends, we have people to celebrate with when there are things to celebrate but also we have people in our lives to help us up when that is needed.
