Blowing soap bubbles is something that usually is associated with summer. But this year we have realized that it is fun with soap bubbles in the middle of winter as well.

Our kids are really fascinated by soap bubbles. Blowing soap bubbles always seem to cheer them up! During winter, soap bubbles are extra interesting because they slowly freeze when they hit the ground.

We have a one-year-old son, He spends quite much time in the stroller. He has not yet really understood the delight of building snowmen and other things that his big sister is doing. So blowing bubbles keeps Him entertained for at least a little while, when his big sister is skiing!

If you have small kids, this is an activity worth trying!

To make the soap bubbles extra durable, we add a little bit of syrup into the solution. Here is the recipe we use:

The Best Homemade Bubble Solution – Easy Recipe

3 dl water

1 dl dish soap

0.25 dl syrup

Mix all the ingredients. Wait a couple of hours before use to make the bubbles more durable.

For older children and parents, it’s fun to try to get nice photos of the soap bubbles. If they do not crack when they reach the snow, they slowly freeze. That makes a beautiful pattern form on the bubbles!

Soup bubbles are so beautiful when they fall to the ground. The bubbles slowly freeze and the pattern it creates is truly so so amazing.

Definitely worth trying.

If you want to only take pictures of the freezing bubbles I would leave the syrup out of the mix. That way the bubbles freeze faster.

We believe that God creates in a wonderful way. We can read about how God created this whole world at the beginning of the Bible.

When we are out in nature it is not hard to see that God is an amazing creator. This world is so beautiful! We can see a lot of who God is in his creation. God is so big and he is so good to us.

When we are out hiking and stand beside high mountains and stand among tall trees it is easy to remember that God is big.

We can also see that everything God creates is so detailed. God creates in such a precise and detailed way. Everything that God makes is so intentional.

Just as everything in nature is so beautiful and wonderful, you too were created in such a wonderful way.

We hope that this website will be a place to find joy in being creative and a place to be reminded of who made us and for what reason.

Fall is my favorite season during the year. Even if it gets darker and colder there is something so cozy and beautiful about fall that makes it such a wonderful time to enjoy.

As a family we like the outdoors. Our oldest child, our three year old daughter really enjoys being outside and she doesn’t seem to be bothered by the fact that it is getting colder outside, she still loves going to the park and out on adventures in the woods.

Here are some of our favorite activities to do outdoors:

Outdoor Activities For 3 to 5 Year Olds

1. Picking berries and apples
   Starting with the blueberries in August, followed with the apples in September/October, picking berries and apples is such a fun thing to do during late summer/fall that you actually can’t do any other time during the year.
   
2. Flying kites
   Make a kite and go to the park and fly it. Fall comes with a lot of windy days, at least here where we live, which makes flying kites the perfect activity. If you don’t know how to make a kite, you can find instructions here on how to make a kite for kids that easily flies:

3. Jumping in water puddles
   Jumping in puddles is something you can do all days that are rainy and they usually are quite frequent during the fall months. Put on some rain boots and have fun! 🙂
   
4. Playing with leaves
   Jumping in piles of leaves and making labyrinths in them are two favorite activities as the leaves are starting to fall from the trees.
   
5. Picking out some leaves and bring them inside and do some crafts
   When you are playing with leaves, pick out some and bring them inside for som fall crafts. On this Pinterest board you can find som ideas!

Fall is here! Beautiful colors and windy, cozy days, what could be better than that?

Fall comes with more days with more wind, or is that only my imagination?

One of our children was born in October, He is four years old now but I still remember the windy days the first weeks of his life.

I don’t know, but at least it feels like fall brings some weather that is more windy.

Sometimes wind can feel cold and not so nice but if you want to fly a kite, windy weather is actually the thing that you are looking for.

So, today we want to share with you one way that you can make a kite for kids.

We have tried several different ways to make our own kites and some attempts have not been so successful. 😀

But we have found one easy way that we really like. It is easy and the kite is also quite easy to fly even for younger kids.

How To Make A Simple Kite That Will Fly

Fall time is a perfect time for trying new craft ideas! Today we want to share a fun craft, perfect for windy days! This is a craft that you later can bring with you outside to the park, this is a super easy kite for kids that actually really easily flies!

How to make an easy kite for kids

To make this kite you need:

• a paper (A4)
• watercolor or crayons
• scissors
• pencil
• ruler or measuring tape
• yarn or a wire
• needle
• stapler
• ribbon
• toilet roll

To make this kite special it’s fun to go ahead and do your own painting! Our daughter loves watercolor, she is now three and now she actually can do this without making a mess! 😉

If you paint with watercolor, you will have to leave the painting for a couple hours to dry before you make it into a kite!

When it is all dry you fold the paper in half and make a mark about 7 cm(2,75 inches) from one of the corners on the folded long side of the paper.

Use the mark you made as a reference and fold the two corners of the paper together as you see on the picture above and staple!

Time to add a ribbon to you kite! For this kite we used a ribbon about 50 cm(19,6 inches) long. Place it in between the folded paper in the back of the kite and staple.

A toilet roll is perfect to keep track of the yarn or wire you use to fly your kite! Yarn or wire that is quite light weight is good for this occasion! Tie the yarn to the toilet roll as on the pictures above and twist 3-4 meters of yarn around. If you want the kite to fly higher, use more yarn!

Use a needle to tie the yarn to your kite or use the stepler!

Done! 😉 This kite is actually really easy to fly as you can see down below! Hope you will have lots of fun with it!
