Snowflake Mittens Knitting Pattern
Further down, you can find a link to a free snowflake mittens knitting pattern.
October is here, and so is the cold weather. This part of the fall is so beautiful! Soon, the trees will change into so many different colors. The mornings are cold, and the mist covering the fields as we bike to school and work is so calming.
Fall feels like nature is calming down. This year, I am so ready for that shift. I don’t know how your life has been these last few months, but our life as a family has been busy. Now I look forward to routines and a slower pace in life. I really pray that that will happen.
Yesterday I watched this video of one of my favorite YouTubers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-QOp493KN0. And it really just sent me straight to fall mode. Natalie is a vlogger I have followed ever since I was pregnant with our oldest daughter, and every fall she shares her love for fall in a way that is really nice.
So if you need some fall inspiration, make sure to watch that video.
Cozy Fall Time Activities

One really nice part of fall is, of course, the fact that we tend to spend more time inside. And with more time spent inside comes more time available for knitting projects.
Our youngest daughter is deep in a Frozen phase right now. She really likes everything snow-related because of that. So, as the weather is getting colder and our smaller children seem not to like mittens very much, I wanted to give it a try to knit a pair of Frozen inspired mittens.
Snowflake Mittens Knitting Pattern
I found this knitting pattern: https://www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=11567&cid=19 , which is a pair of mittens with snowflakes for adults, and made a smaller version of it. I simplified the thumb just to make it easier to knit. I have always knitted thumbs for mittens in this way. I think it is the easiest way, and it usually is really comfortable.
If you have any questions on how I knitted the thumb and you want me to clarify something, just leave a comment.

Knitting these mittens was such a fast, easy project. Just the kind of knitting I really like!

These snowflake mittens were inspired by this knitting pattern that is free and that you can find at Drops Design, following this link: https://www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=11567&cid=19

If you, just like me, is looking for ways to slow life down a little bit, knitting is one of the ways that I feel life slows down. I am really trying to minimize the time I spend scrolling on my phone, and finding other things to fill that time has been a good strategy for me to stay away from scrolling and spend some time being creative instead.
But keeping the knitting projects simple and easy makes me reach for them more often.

Other Things To Do To Slow Down Life
Last year, I wrote a blog post about 20 things to do instead of being on your phone. This project of mine to slow down life, has been going on for a while. 😉 So if you need some ideas on what to do instead of scrolling, follow this link: https://underbartskapad.com/stop-scrolling-20-things-to-do-instead-of-being-on-your-phone/
Creativity is such a gift that we have been given. Doing something creative gives so much joy and calmness to our lives. Fall time is such a reminder of the beauty in the nature around us. God has blessed us with so much beauty, and he created us in his image.
So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27
With our words and our actions, we get to create things together with him. I am so thankful for that gift!
We really hope you have gotten a blessed start on the fall. We will keep on posting blog posts every other week this fall. So you are welcome back again soon! If you have any requests on what kind of content you would like to see more of, please leave a comment and tell us.
It is always so fun to hear from you!
Many greetings from us at Wonderfully made
