A couple of weeks ago we talked about John 8:12 at our kids group at our church and these were the crafts activities that we did.

Jesus says that he is the light of the world. Whoever follows Jesus will not walk in darkness but have the light of life.

Every day we make choices of what we want to prioritize. We follow a lot of different people and accounts on different social media platforms. We all get a lot of different information and advice from so many different people and channels.

When we choose to let the teachings of Jesus influence us and guide us we will get advice and truth that make us walk in light. Even if our circumstances might be hard and the world around us might be confusing, Jesus always stays the same.

So by choosing to follow what is true, we won’t stumble.

Your Word Is a Lamp For My Feet

“Your word is a lamp for my feet,
    a light on my path.”
Psalm 119:105

God wants to guide us for every new step we need to take. It doesn’t matter if the next step we will take feels like a big or a small one to us, God cares and wants to be there with us.

The lamps that were used during the time when Psalm 119 was written were lights that gave just enough light for the next step. These days we are so used to seeing the whole path lit up by street lights but before street lights were invented, you couldn’t see the path that clearly. The lights that were used gave enough light for the next few steps.

This is how we get to live our lives with God. God wants to guide us for the next few steps and most of the time we don’t know exactly where the path will lead us. God wants us to trust him. God is so faithful, He deserves our trust.

John 8:12 Craft Activity

In the image above you can see how you can use these two following printables. Both images here below have the size A4 and we suggest that you use a thicker paper to print out the first image.

This other printable has a lot of light bulbs. As we prepared this craft for a group of children we needed plenty of light bulbs and printed out multiples of the first printable as well.

But if you will make only two cards, feel free to use the rest of the light bulbs for some other craft project you have in mind.

We hope that you will have a lot of fun with these crafts. Doing something creative to process something that you are learning, is a good way to make sure the things you are trying to learn aren’t forgotten that easily.

Memorizing scripture is also a good way to make sure that the word of God will be accessible to you when you need it most. So teaching our children Bible verses by heart is a good way to equip them for life.
