Bible Verses On Loneliness – You Are Not Alone
Here are some Bible verses on loneliness to remind you that you are not alone.
One of the lies I think our enemy wants us to believe in is that we are alone. That we need to manage everything in our own strength and that we stand alone in our struggles.
We all face different kinds of struggles and challenges and in times when it feels like one challenge is followed by another, life can feel overwhelming.
Sometimes life can feel intense, it feels like there is no time to stop and reflect and there is no space to recharge and rest.
A couple of weeks ago I had a couple of challenging days as a mom. I suddenly felt so alone. Even if there is some kind of truth in the fact that we do have a lot of responsibility as moms I also know that God wants to partner with us even in parenthood.
I also know I have a very supportive husband and friends and a sister who is happy to help with the children. But even knowing that. I felt so alone. It felt like I had to fix every struggle as a mom by myself.
Even if I knew the truth that God is with me and that he wants to be a part of every part of my life I realized that I had let the thought of feeling alone linger and gave it space to grow.
In times when we are tempted to feel lonely some Bible verses to remind us that we are not alone can be a good place to be reminded of what is true.
Bible Verses On Loneliness – You Are Not Alone
“Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:4
In Psalm 23 we can read that we will walk through dark valleys. We will all walk through challenges and harder seasons in life. We can’t escape that. But in the valley, we are to not fear evil, for God is with us, his rod and staff are there to comfort us.
A rod and a staff are used to protect and to guide. When we choose to stay connected to God in times of struggle, his rod and staff will comfort us.
The promise that God will be with us even in harder times is mentioned in so many parts of the Bible. When we choose to trust in that promise even when circumstances are hard, we are protected from the lies that the enemy tries to send our way.
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7
In times of hardship, we get to cast ALL our anxiety on him. There is no limit to how honest we get to be with our Father. We can be 100 % honest and give all our worries to him.
No Longer Orphans
“In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”
Ephesians 1:5-6
We are predestined for adoption through Jesus Christ. We belong to a family.
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”
John 14:18
Jesus gives us the promise of not leaving us as orphans. We are promised to have a helper with us at all times.
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
John 14:26
Later in the same chapter, Jesus talks about how his Father will send the Holy Spirit that will teach us all things and remind us of everything Jesus has said. We get to partner with the Holy Spirit and know that we are not orphans, we are adopted and we belong in his kingdom.
“The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.”
Psalm 145:18-19
The Lord is near to all who call on him.
Be strong In The Lord Bible Verse
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
Ephesians 6:10-11
During the challenging days that I had a couple of weeks ago, I got reminded of these verses in Ephesians. Paul tells the church in Ephesus to be strong and put on the full armor of God.
These verses don’t tell us to be strong if we want to be strong or if we feel like it. It doesn’t say that we should put on the full armor of God on hard days. These verses tell us that we are to be strong! Every day, all day, through the protection that the armor of God gives us, we get to live through his mighty power.
Through putting on the whole armor of God we are protected from the devil’s schemes.
So, We Have A Choice To Make
So we have a choice to make. We get to choose if we want to listen to the truth that is found in the Bible or if we will give space for lies to take root in our lives.
In times when we feel lonely I think there is power in inviting people to pray for us. When we tell someone we trust about how we feel we give an opportunity for truth to be spoken over us.
We were not designed to carry our burdens alone. God is with us always. And there is power in community. We get to share each other’s burdens and encourage each other.
You are not alone.
