Crochet Coasters – FREE Patterns

At the beginning of my vacation this summer, I set some goals for myself in order to find creative ways to rest and stay off my phone as much as possible. One of my goals was to keep knitting throughout the summer. Pretty quickly, though, I ended up crocheting instead.

I don’t have the same experience with crocheting as I do with knitting. The more I crochet, the more I realize that there is so much more to learn. In the blog post I published two weeks ago, I shared that I have learned a new crochet technique called the magic loop.

I was looking for an easy crochet project and got the idea of crocheting cup coasters. I started by just improvising, but I wasn’t happy with how the middle section turned out, so I started looking for crochet patterns.

I found a crochet pattern that starts with a magic loop and continues by increasing the number of stitches in every row. I’ll leave the link to the pattern here:

The first crochet coaster pattern in the blog post above is a good beginner project, I would say, as I consider myself a beginner as well.

These coasters are really simple to make. I spent a few hours crocheting coasters in different colors. I used a thin cotton yarn, so I used two strands of yarn to make the coasters a bit more sturdy.

In the blog post linked above, they suggest using cotton yarn, and I would say that is a really good option. You could also choose a yarn made from wool but cotton is easy to clean if you would have to do that at some point.

Anyway, I am looking forward to using these coasters as fall is approaching and hot drinks are starting to sound really nice again.

Easy Beginner Crochet Patterns

As a beginner crocheter, I am just starting to challenge myself bit by bit by trying different crochet patterns. As fall gets closer, I know I will start feeling like knitting again, but maybe I will have time for one more crochet project. Let’s see.
