What is a Pom Pom?

According to Oxfords languages a pom pom is a small woollen ball attached to a garment, especially a hat, for decoration.

Some pom poms might be made out of wool but we have made pom poms out of all kind of different types of yarn.

Depending on for what purpose you will use the pom pom that you are making, try to choose a yarn you think will fit the way you want the pom pom to look like. If you want a really dense pom pom you might opt for a thicker yarn.

If you want the pom pom to be a little more loose, you can choose a thinner yarn with maybe some glitter or some other interesting element to it.

Pom poms is a craft we really enjoy doing right now. Our daughter still needs some help making them but she really enjoys playing with them and keeps finding new ways to decorate with them.

Pom Poms can be used as a decoration on a knitted hat or as a garland. You can also add some eyes and a face to them and maybe some feet and arms to make them like small people. Those can be so cute!
