Bible Verses About Dreams And Goals
Here are some Bible verses about dreams and goals, that can be an encouragement when entering a new season.
We are at the end of August and here where we live in Sweden, that means that we are approaching fall.
The beginning of fall is such a nice time of the year. The temperature is going down a little bit, which I really like. It is a very cozy season when we get to light candles again and bring out the blankets.
So, I am excited! I hope that you are too. If not, I hope I can pass on some of my excitement through this blog post. 😉
Fall time is a time of starting a new school year, our oldest daughter just started first grade and she is very excited. We hope she will have a really good time with her friends and that she will continue to be excited to learn new things.
The coming fall will look very different for each of us depending on the season we live in. For some of us, this fall might bring some new projects or maybe you are going back to work or to the university. Or maybe you continue your everyday life as a mom, that’s what my fall looks like.
Excitement For The Future
No matter what we will be doing, I hope we never stop dreaming of the months and years that lie ahead. Dreaming and goal setting is such a fun part of life! Having goals set for the coming months keeps us motivated to strive for more and to grow.
Right now, this fall, I will be staying at home with our youngest daughter so, for me, this fall won’t really bring anything that is specifically new for me in terms of projects or things like that. But, no matter the season, I like to set goals for the things that I am focused on in that season.
Before becoming a mom, I worked as a physiotherapist and in that job, we talk a lot about goals. Having clear and reachable goals that you can measure if you reach them, can be so important if you want to implement a new habit or just get better at something.
God Has A Plan For Your Life
The Bible makes it very clear that God also has a plan for our lives.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
For some years I have not been that sure about what to focus on and what direction I should choose in life. I don’t know if you are in a season of not being so certain of what lies ahead or if you know exactly what step to take next.
In seasons of life that feel uncertain regarding what exactly lies ahead, it is so nice to be reminded about the fact that even if we can be unsure, God is not confused about the plans he has for us.
“I know that plans I have for you, declares the Lord…”. God knows the plans he has for you. God created you and he did so for a reason.
Your creator is not confused about your future. He has a future for you full of hope.
Bible Verses About Dreams And Goals
“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
Proverbs 16:3
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do.” More and more I have realized that whatever I do, God can work through me. Whatever I do, I can worship him. Whatever I do, I can love God and love people.
So sometimes, we don’t need to be so focused on what exactly to do in life but we need to commit our life to him. Letting God work through us and bless others through us, no matter what we do make us live his plan for us no matter what we do.
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”
Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. The word prevail comes from a Latin word that means to have greater power. God’s purpose for your life is profound, it will prevail.
If we seek God’s purpose for our lives we can be confident in that his purpose for us will have greater power than all our plans. God wants to guide us and show us his thoughts for us. God’s purpose for us can be lived out in different ways depending on the season we are in.
“But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.”
Psalm 33:11
God Lights Up The Path For The Next Step
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Sometimes we think that the lamp that lights up our path should brighten up our path all the way to the end.
However, the lamps that were used by people during the times when the Psalms were written were very small. It lighted up the path for the next few steps.
Life with God is very much like what I have learned. God most of the time lights up the path for the next few steps and it takes faith and courage to take the next step because many times we can’t really see where the path is leading us.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1
Walking with God requires us to have faith. Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Who Builds The House?
“Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves.”
Psalm 127:1-2
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain… In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat – for he grants sleep to those he loves.”
These verses have challenged me over the last few years. Unless the Lord builds the house, the things we do are in vain. Knowing that the things we do are all for his glory makes everything we do have a deeper meaning.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
Colossians 3:23
Some Encouraging Bible Verses On The Way To Reach Goals
“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.”
Proverbs 4:25
No matter how excited we are to start something new and reach for new goals at the beginning of fall or at the beginning of a new year, most of us, at some point, start to lose our energy.
Perseverance is a big part of life. In order to reach our goals and the dreams we have, we need perseverance. Staying committed is most of the time the hard part of the process.
“The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.”
Psalm 138:8
If we are perseverant, God will fulfill his purpose for us.
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7
When we live life with God, we have the spirit that gives us power, love, and self-discipline. God is our provider, when we are tired, he gives us power, when we lack love, he gives us love and when we lack in discipline, we can find self-discipline in him.
We get to live life through the power that God gives us.
So a part of reaching our goals is up to us, we need to commit our life to him and we need to be perseverant but we get to live through his grace and his power and love.
We get to be partners with our almighty Father who loves us and the people around us so much.
