Crochet Basket With Handles
Summer is in full bloom, and I am continuing on my challenge to not stop knitting and crocheting during this summer. These last couple of weeks, I have been crocheting a basket.
As most times, I have gotten the inspiration from a few different crochet patterns. It’s hard for me to stick to one specific pattern as I always seem to have quite a specific idea in mind and don’t seem to find exactly the pattern I am looking for.
Free Crochet Basket Patterns
The first website I always go to to check for free knitting or crochet patterns is Drops Design. Here is a link to the patterns on knitted and crocheted baskets that you can find there: https://www.garnstudio.com/search.php?action=search&w=baskets&lang=us
After looking around for a while I decided to go for a basket formed as a square. This Pinterest pin helped me with the base of the basket: https://se.pinterest.com/pin/111253053294548299/

When I was happy with the size of the bottom part of the basket I formed an edge through just picking up the inner part of the stitches(is that how you call them when you are crocheting as well as when you knit?).

And then I just continued to crochet around until I reached a height of the sides that I liked, and then I crocheted a bit back and forth on one side to create a gap on the sides to create handles.
I crocheted 1,5 times back and forth to create a nice height of the sides of the gaps and then I crocheted a strain of stitches to make the handle. I finished by crocheting one time around the of the basket.

The Point Is Not Create Something Perfect
As always, I do not have the patience to strive for perfect. I really enjoy the creative process of crocheting and knitting, but I do not have the patience to focus on small details.
The instructions for the basket I made are not that detailed either, so if you have any questions, please leave a comment.
Yarn For Crocheting Baskets
The yarn I used for the basket was the yarn that was left from crocheting the tote bag from this blog post: https://underbartskapad.com/crochet-tote-bag-free-pattern/

At the yarn store where I found this yarn, there were so many different kinds of recycled cotton yarns to choose from.
We hope you found some inspiration in this blog post to do something creative. And we hope you will have a really nice summer.
We will keep posting about the knitting and crochet projects that this summer brings, at the moment I am not sure what will come next but welcome back in a couple of weeks for a new blog post!
Blessings!
