Motivational Bible Verses For A New Season

We are now in the middle of September and that means that some of us have entered a new school year and some of us have returned from our summer vacations and are back at work. Or maybe you continue everyday life at home with your children just like me.

September doesn’t bring new projects for all of us but here in Sweden where we live, we experience changing seasons from sunny summer to the colder weather that the fall season brings.

When entering a new season there is so much wisdom that can be found in the Bible. Reading and meditating on God’s word helps us to keep our eyes on the most important things in life.

For some of us, this new season is already planned out for many months to come. Maybe you are in school and you know the classes you will take and so on. For others, this new season might mean that you need to decide what direction to choose for your future.

In times when we are in situations that require us to seek God for the next steps to take, some of us may see it as an exciting thing while others feel a lot of pressure and the uncertainty of what lies ahead might feel stressful.

A couple of months ago I heard the words purpose anxiety for the first time. For some of us, having an unknown future means many thoughts about purpose and calling and it might make us anxious about making the wrong choices.

If that is you right now you can know that there is someone that knows exactly the plans he has for you and that is the one who created you. Knowing that our creator made us with so much intentionality and purpose is so good in times when we aren’t sure of what lies ahead.

Motivation In Uncertain Times

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11

The Lord knows the plans he has for you. God designed this whole universe and he designed you. He has many thoughts for you and he knows the plans he has for you. God’s plans for your life give you a future and hope.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. God’s word is a very good place to find guidance.

Sometimes we wish that the lamp that brightens up our path would light up all the path as long as we can see, but the lamps used during the times when the Psalms were written were very small, they only lit up the path for the next few steps.

Life with God as our guide is very much like that, I have learned. God gives us direction for the next few steps but most of the time we can’t see exactly where the path is leading us.

Life with God requires faith. It requires us to trust him.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously. God wants to guide us, he wants to give us wisdom for the decisions that we need to make.

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”
Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the man who… delights in the law of the Lord, on his law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water.

When we make the word of God the thing that we meditate on often so that we can know the thoughts God has for us, we are like a tree planted by streams of water. Choosing to stay close to God, and meditating on his word, makes us prosper.

Motivational Bible Verses For A New Season

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up. This is a verse that God has reminded me of so many times during the last few years, as I have been at home with our small children.

Trying to teach small children not to hit and kick and all these things can feel so fruitless at times. It takes so perseverance not to give up sometimes, knowing that in due season we will see fruit if we do not give up.

Maybe you are not at home with small kids but maybe there is something else that you are trying to sow into but you can’t see the fruit of it yet. Then this verse can be a really nice encouragement for you to not give up.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”
Lamentation 3:22-24

The steadfast love of the Lord and his mercies never come to an end. Many times we go into a new season with a lot of excitement and energy and after a while the challenging days come, then it is good to remember that the Lord is still there. His mercies are new every morning, great is his faithfulness.

God Created The Seasons

“He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting.”
Psalms 104:19

God created this earth in a way that there are rhythms that always continue. There is night and day. There is time for work and time for rest.

Those of us who live in the northern or southern parts of the world also experience really clear seasons during the year; fall, winter, spring, and summer.

He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.
Acts 1:7

God is the one that is in control over it all. We get to rest in the assurance that he is the one who fixed the seasons by his own authority.

Motivational Bible Verses When Life Is Overwhelming

“A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. …”
Psalm 23

“Unless the Lord builds the house,
    the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
In vain you rise early
    and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves.”
Psalm 127:1-2

Life gets so full so fast when a new season starts, especially in the fall. We are a family of five and even if we try to keep up with it all, sometimes we fail. This morning was a busy morning when I had forgotten about our oldest daughter’s homework she had to hand in today.

We try our best to stay on top of everything that needs to get done but sometimes life is overwhelming.

Psalm 23 and Psalm 127 are chapters in the Psalms that I read when life is crazy, knowing that God grants sleep to those he loves.

Knowing what priorities to have and when to say no to things is also a wisdom I think God wants to give us.
