Short Christmas Bible Verses

Here are some short Christmas Bible Verses that are easy to memorize.

We are soon in the middle of November and for the first year since I moved to Sweden we are actually planning on celebrating Christmas here, in Sweden this year.

Usually, we travel to Colombia or Finland for Christmas to visit our families. Even during the pandemic, we traveled to Finland, we had to spend 12 days in quarantine in my parent’s summer house but even that year we chose to travel to Finland for Christmas.

But this year, my parents and at least one sister will come to Sweden and we will get to enjoy a Swedish Christmas, whatever that means. 😉

Planning For The Holidays

The fact that we will stay in Sweden for Christmas, makes me start planning for the Holidays much earlier than usual. As we plan to spend all of December here, it makes it feel so much more worth it to decorate and bake for Christmas.

I have always really enjoyed decorating for Christmas, but when you know that you won’t spend Christmas Eve and the days around Christmas at home, it feels like you have to hold back on the decorating excitement a little bit. 😉 But not this year, this year we will be decorating and baking a lot more in our home.

This last weekend we went thrift shopping and I bought some home decor that was Christmas-themed in a a subtile way. I haven’t dared to put them out yet, but one day soon.. 😉

So, needless to say, I am very excited for this Christmas that is coming and so are our children. Our five-year-old keeps on asking us in the evening if it is Christmas tomorrow. He knows Christmas is coming soon and is trying to figure out months and weeks and how that all works. 😀

As Christmas is approaching we also want to be reminded of why we celebrate Christmas. Our five-year-old is really into listening to his kid’s Bible in the evening before he goes to bed, so with him it will be easy to talk about why we celebrate Christmas.

The birth of Jesus truly changed so much for us. What a crazy and powerful thing we get to celebrate!

Short Christmas Bible Verses

Here are some short Christmas Bible verses to remind us of the power behind the Christmas story.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16

The fact that God the Father chose to send his only son to die for us is such a gift. John chapter 3 and verse 16 is maybe one of the most known Bible verses from the Bible. Sometimes I think that these verses that we have heard so many times can get so familiar to us that we forget how powerful they are.

We can see so clearly how great God’s love is for us through the Christmas story. Our circumstances changed so much through Jesus. We can now live in a close relationship with our Father again.

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14

Through Jesus being born as a baby and living on this earth as a human, we get to see God’s glory in such a clear way. Jesus is full of grace and truth. Through his life we get to see so much of who God is, that he is powerful and just. He heals the sick and cares for the ones in need.

The words that Jesus spoke were many times hard for even his disciples to understand. What a gift it is that we still get to have the Bible to remind us of the things that Jesus did while he was on the earth and the words that he spoke are printed on paper.

The True Light Gives Light To Everyone

"The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world." John 1:9

“The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.”
John 1:9

The light that Jesus brought into the world gives light to everyone. Jesus came to die for everyone! And that light came to stay! Later in John, in chapter 14, Jesus promises to not leave us as orphans and he promises that the Holy Spirit will come. He tells the people listening that the Holy Spirit will remind them of all the things that he had said to them.

So the light Jesus brought into the world, came to stay!

“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”
Luke 2:10

During the time when Jesus was born, an angel appeared to some shepherds and the glory of the Lord shone around them, the shepherds were terrified. The glory of the Lord is so great, it was overwhelming for them.

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
Luke 2:11

Not only did these shepherds get to experience some of God’s glory but also, the news that the shepherds got that night, were the best news ever!

The Best News Ever!

"When they saw the star, they were overjoyed." Matthew 2:10

“When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.”
Matthew 2:10

The star that the wise men saw, telling them that a king had been born, made them overjoyed. We get to join them in that joy of celebrating that Jesus was born.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
James 1:17

The Lord is the perfect gift giver!

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”
2 Corinthians 9:15

“For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6

Jesus is a Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. We get to keep getting closer to him as we grow in our relationship with him. There will always be new things about who God is that he wants to reveal to us.

We hope that this website can be a place to dig deeper into who God is and how it affects our lives. God longs for a relationship with us where we get to live life together with us.
