Bible Verses About Overcoming Hard Times

Here are some Bible verses about overcoming hard times.

Sometimes life is full of challenges. Every one of us goes through easier times and harder times.

When life gets really challenging it can be easy to be discouraged. If you are going through a hard season right now, hopefully, these bible verses can be an encouragement to you!

Bible Verses About Overcoming Hard Times

Picture of growing leaves and the bible verse Romans 8:37 about overcoming hard times

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:35-39

“Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any power, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus”

NOTHING will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

Romans 8:32

In verse 32 in the same chapter of Romans 8 we can read about how God didn’t spare his own son. He sent his Son to die for us because of his great love for us. The love of God is so profound.

There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God.

No matter how hard the season is that we are living in we can know that God is still the same loving Father that he was yesterday.

Knowing that God will never change is a firm foundation to stand on when life is hard.

A Person Who Understood The Greatness Of God

A person in the Bible that really understood that God gives us victory when we walk in obedience is Caleb. He was one of two spies who after seeing the land of Canaan still believed God would give them victory! He knew God walked with them and that nothing or no one was more powerful than God.

”Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes and said to the entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.””

Numbers 14:6-9

Caleb chose to focus on who God is instead of the circumstances around him.

Imagine if we always would view life and face the challenges it brings in the same way and always remembered that we walk in victory because we have God by our side.

No matter our circumstances, God remains the same and is greater than everything and everyone else! Together with God, we walk in victory. When Jesus died on the cross He defeated death! When we choose to believe we become partners with Him in His overwhelming victory!

”The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 15:56-57

The victory is won! You get to live in victory! Let’s focus on God instead of the circumstances, God’s power instead of our weaknesses!

How To Be An Overcomer As A Christian

According to the website dictionary.com an overcomer is:

  1. a person who prevails in spite of opposition, difficulties, weakness, etc.
  2. a person who defeats someone or something in a conflict or struggle.
from dictionary.com

So an overcomer is a person who prevails in spite of opposition, difficulty or weakness. Synonyms to prevail are to win or to be victorious.

We can se various examples of being victorious in difficult situations in the bible. Caleb is one of the people in the bible that chose to focus on God strength instead of the circumstances.

Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and Daniel are a few more. Something these people have in common is that they chose to trust in God when life was hard.

Trusting in God when life is hard is the key to being an overcomer. Leaning into our heavenly father and seeking his guidance is the best way to overcome tough seasons in life.

God is so good. God has always been such a good father and He will never change.

Even if everything else changes around us, the one thing that never will fail us is our heavenly father.

Remember To Whom You Belong

So if you are in a difficult season right now, remember that you are a son/daughter of the Almighty God.

“So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.”

Ephesians 2:19-22

When we decide to give our life to Christ and follow Him with our whole heart we know that we belong to the creator of the universe that sent His only son to die for us.

You are so loved. God cares for you.

God’s Grace Is New Every Morning

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3:22-23
A picture of leaves and a bible verse about overcoming hard times. Lametations 3:22-23

Last spring was a harder season for me. It was a time that was very intensive, we had three small children and we moved apartments. We had a lot to do, I was sleep-deprived and it was hard to feel like I could keep up with all the things that had to be done.

On top of that, some other things happened that really threw me off guard. I was discouraged and I was struggling.

During that time there was one song that kept coming back to me when I prayed. It is a song in Swedish and it is about how the grace of God is new every morning. No matter how hard yesterday was I knew that God would give me strength for the next day.

The mercies of God never come to an end, they are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness.

God will always stay faithful!
