Standing firm in difficult times is sometimes very hard but it is so powerful.

We all go through harder seasons of life. Hardships can come in many different ways and sometimes we get burdened by all the things that seem so unfair.

How we react in different seasons of our life often makes a huge impact on how we cope during different seasons.

When life gets hard, I think the main thing that makes a huge impact is if we cling to God or if we blame Him.

To be honest, I have been tempted to do the latter sometimes, here are some thoughts on how to not fall into that trap.

Standing Firm In Difficult Times

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.
 They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
    therefore I will wait for him.””

Lamentations 3:22-24

God’s love will never change, and his compassions will never fail.

Reading scripture, we can see over and over again that God is so good. God is such a good loving father.

When God created the earth, He made it good so that we could enjoy it. When the people turned their back to Him He chose to give humanity a second chance through Noah.

Later on, He made a covenant with Abraham and his descendants, He stayed committed to His promises even when Israel’s people were not faithful to Him.

Much later He sent His only son to die for us so that we could live in a close relationship with Him again.

All through the Bible we can see God’s faithfulness.

And God never changes. He will always be faithful.

Really believing that God is a faithful God is the key to trusting in Him even when life gets hard.

Choosing to run to Him and not from Him when difficulties some makes the whole difference.

So if you are facing a hard season right now, remember that God is faithful. He has always been faithful and He will always be faithful.

You can run to Him. He wants to reveal His character to you!

Be on your guard; stand firm in faith. 1 Corinthians 16 and verse 13 tell us to be on guard and to stand firm in the faith. When life gets hard we sometimes need to be on guard. We need to choose to stand firm in our faith in God.

Instead of blaming the hardships on God, we can choose to keep our focus on the fact that God is faithful through it all. God’s faithfulness will never fail.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29 verse 11 says that the Lord knows the plans he has for us. God is so good. God knows us so well, he creates us for a future full of hope. God’s plans for us are good, they are not plans to harm us.

This is a firm truth to stand on when we don’t understand everything that happens around us. God wants our very best.

Benefits Of Standing Firm In The Lord

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

When we choose to trust in the Lord and stand firm in believing that he has a good plan for us we don’t need to feel afraid when life gets challenging.

When we submit to the Lord, he will make our paths straight. That is what Proverbs 3:6 says. Many times we make plans and ask the Lord to bless them but the Bible tells us to seek the Lord and make plans together with our heavenly Father.

We were created by him and he knows why he made us and for what purpose. There is so much wisdom in seeking the one that designed us. God wants to know you his plans and his heart for you.

When we choose to see who God is instead of the difficulties around us we have a firm foundation to stand on. God’s greatness and faithfulness will never change but our circumstances change all the time.
