Fall is a time when we get to harvest the things that have been growing during the summer. If everything goes well with the things that have been sown during spring, there will be a reward for all the hard work that has been done.
For the last few weeks, I have been thinking about how things we sow sometimes take a lot of time before it is ready to harvest.
Last year, we planted wild strawberry seeds on our balcony. It took a couple of weeks before we could see something starting to sprout.
And for many weeks, the plants were so so tiny.
But at the end of summer, we got to harvest some wild strawberries. It took months for the strawberries to show up but they did slowly grow all the time.
As a mother, I can get impatient as I try to model healthy behavior to our children. Sometimes it feels so fruitless and it takes time for their character to grow.
So, God has been reminding me about consistency, that we need perseverance in order to see something grow well.
The Bible reminds us that we will reap what we sow. It is true. What we sow and nurture, will grow.
So let’s not become weary in doing good. Let’s not give up.

In Galatians 6 we can read that we will reap. If we sow, we will reap. But it takes patience. It’s not immediate. I guess that is the hard part. At least for me. Not knowing when we will see the fruit of our labour.
I think this is a good picture of parenting. We sow and serve, often not seeing some immediate result. We need perseverance.
Reminding myself that I don’t sow in vain is very necessary sometimes so I don’t give up.
Maybe you feel the same way sometimes, if so, don’t give up in doing good! You will reap in proper time.
2. If we sow generously we will reap generously.
If we are generous we will get generosity from others. What we model in our homes, will multiply.
